Journey of a Troubled Mind is a cross-disciplinary project inspired by analytical psychology and the teachings of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung. Drawing from personal experiences with psychoanalysis, I document my encounters with the unconscious through both imagery and written word. So far, the project spans several creative fields.

The Story – A Hero’s Journey

The book was crafted in such a way that the text and artwork work hand-in-hand to create a unique allegory. Instead of being a mere illustration, the artwork complements and extends the written word — opening a space for the reader to freely interpret the drawings and reveal the contents of their own unconscious mind.

The narrative follows William, a young boy who feels far older than his years — a trait that sets him apart from his peers. Isolated and misunderstood, William retreats into his inner world, where he meets an imaginary companion: a jester named Tibo. Surprisingly, it is Tibo who helps William grow emotionally and build connections with both himself and the outside world.

The book also serves as an illustrated introduction to Jung’s archetypes, and to his ideas of the personal and collective unconscious.

The Artwork‍

Following the book’s release, the artwork received notable attention. The original pencil and ink illustrations were intentionally designed to stand on their own — each one a complete and expressive work of art, independent from the narrative. This inspired me to translate several pieces to canvas, continuing the project through oil painting. My vision now is to expand even further — into sculpture and animation, bringing new dimensions to the story’s symbolic world.

Awards and Recognition

Journey of a Troubled Mind began as a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2022. One year later, it was selected for Turicensia, the official cultural heritage collection of the City and Canton of Zürich. In 2024, following its publication in Serbia by Besna Kobila, I was honored with the Special Recognition for Best Young Designer at the 67th International Belgrade Book Fair.
