The Charm of Swiss Castles
I've always been captivated by the architecture of Swiss castles. Their simple shapes and unadorned walls and towers are thoughtfully interrupted by delicate ornaments, often concentrated on the rooftops. Tiles in two or three contrasting colors are meticulously arranged into patterns, adding character and individuality to the entire structure.
From Rooftops to Canvas
Inspired by these elements, I felt compelled to explore them in my art. I began by replicating the geometry of the rooftops, then moved on to large areas of complementary colors, before finally introducing playful, curving lines to seamlessly unify the composition. Though the process can be painstaking at times, the final result is always deeply rewarding.
The elegance of these castles isn't pretentious; it's discreet, yet incredibly enchanting.

The Aftermath
Although these structures are rich in detail, I strive to create balance by simplifying flat surfaces, allowing the patterns to stand out. This approach helps achieve a strong graphic statement without leaning too far into realism.
